It all comes in waves
You may have broken my heart into million pieces and I might have also damaged yours so bad, but I'll never forget that you once saved my life.
I had a chance to contemplate the past - the joys, the regrets, and everything in between. All the fun I'd had up until now. The people I'd shared the laughter and cries with. How my first day at school went. How my pets, for the first time, slept on my chest. The list goes on forever.
I know I should have realized this a long time ago given I'm approaching my 30s soon, but these things don't last. Nothing seems to last the way they do in movies. Forever, in fact, is a privilege that only dead people can afford.
Instead, it comes in waves. Both happiness and sorrow. It won't last forever. I don't have much experience in life - still learning and experimenting. But I'm absolutely certain that the key to living life to the fullest is to enjoy and cherish the moments.
You won't be sad forever. You won't always be over the moon. People will come and go. But one thing stays - memories. (unless you have dementia or Alzheimer's but you can argue that it's still there, you just can't remember it)
You may have broken my heart into a million pieces and I might have also damaged yours so bad, but I'll never forget that you once saved my life.
Thank you.
